It appears to be only a matter of time before Real Madrid formally announce the signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The English international has decided to join Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer after running down his contract at Liverpool.

However, as his Liverpool contract doesn’t expire until June 30, Real Madrid have been hard at work, trying to find an agreement that will enable him to leave the Reds sooner so that he can participate in FIFA Club World Cup.

Real Madrid confident Alexander-Arnold will play Club World Cup

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has offered a fresh update on Alexander-Arnold’s transfer saga.

Romano, who earlier in the day gave his customary ‘here we go’ to the Alexander-Arnold, is now suggesting that Real Madrid are increasingly confident that the Englishman will be able to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup.

This could prove to be a major boost for the club, who will be looking to win the inaugural edition of the newly-formatted Club World Cup.

With Dani Carvajal still struggling with an injury, Alexander-Arnold could be an excellent addition to the team and an instant upgrade over Lucas Vazquez, who will be given an express renewal for the Club World Cup.

Alexander-Arnold won’t earn a fortune

Romano adds that Alexander-Arnold won’t earn a ‘crazy’ salary at Real Madrid as previously thought.

In fact, the Englishman has agreed to Real Madrid’s salary structure and will earn a package on par with other stars in the team.

The Italian transfer expert further adds that Real Madrid always had to choose between Alexander-Arnold and Alphonso Davies, as they didn’t want to sign too overly aggressive fullbacks.

At the end, Real Madrid opted to go after Alexander-Arnold, who is set to become the club’s first major signing of 2025.
