The brass at La Liga giants Real Madrid are ready to reward youngster Raúl Asencio with a new contract.

That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who has on Sunday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Spain’s capital.

The name of defender Asencio has of course taken its place front and centre in the chatter in Spain’s capital over the course of the last 24 hours.

This comes after the 21-year-old enjoyed an outing to remember for Carlo Ancelotti’s side.

Afforded a starting berth at the heart of defence in the Madrid Derby, Asencio conjured up a performance befitting of a player much his senior, shining on both sides of the ball en route to a 1-1 draw.

Amid early comparisons with Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos, all of a Blancos persuasion will in turn no doubt be delighted to hear of the latest word surrounding the young stopper’s future.
