Real Madrid had to come from behind at newly-promoted AlmerĂa as second-half goals from Lucas VĂĄzquez and a stunning David Alaba free-kick gave Carlo Ancelottiâs team a winning start to the season.
Scorers: Ramazani 7â˛; VĂĄzquez 61â˛, Alaba 76â˛
The defending Spanish champions were struck a hammer blow early into the encounter when AlmerĂa took the lead. Summer signing Antonio RĂźdiger, playing next to Nacho for the first time, was caught between two minds in playing a high line.
RĂźdiger dropped late, keeping AlmerĂa forward Largie Ramazani onside, but couldnât get tight enough to the Belgian whose clinical finish inside the box made it 1-0.
Real Madrid dominated the remainder of the first period with both Vincinius Jr. and RĂźdiger testing Fernando MartĂnez before VĂĄzquez had a goal ruled out for offside.
Karim Benzema and Toni Kroos both tested Fernando in the second half before VĂĄzquez drew Real level. Vincinius Jr. and Benzema were both denied before the ball broke in the area where VĂĄzquez was quickest to react to lash home.
The visitors took the lead through Alaba who, having just entered the field, whipped home an inch-perfect free-kick which clipped the inside of the post and left the AlmerĂa keeper rooted to his spot.
AlmerĂŹa had a great chance towards the end of the game but second-half substitute Curro SĂĄnchez could only fire his low shot straight at a grateful Thibault Courtois.
This win puts Ancelottiâs side in second place with three games remaining in La Ligaâs opening weekend.
