Carlo Ancelotti’s legacy as a Real Madrid legend is firmly cemented. At this point, the manager is breaking records for fun and has another milestone in sight ahead of tonight’s clash.

Earlier this season, the Italian gaffer oversaw his 300th game in charge of Real Madrid over his two stints at the club, both of which have been extremely successful.

Against Celta Vigo, he is eyeing another special record, this time concerning his appearances in La Liga.

200 – done

Over his long spells at Real Madrid so far, Ancelotti has 142 wins in La Liga, 33 draws and just 24 defeats in the competition. In total, he has thus overseen 199 games for the men in white.

Tonight’s clash against Celta Vigo at Balaidos will thus be the tactician’s 200th game in charge of the club in the domestic competition, a figure not many managers in history have reached with a single club.

It is only poetic that he brings up his new record while being on his best run ever in La Liga, for the team is on the verge of rewriting history on that front.

Los Blancos are unbeaten in 41 match-days in La Liga with their last defeat coming against Atletico Madrid early last season. A win tomorrow will help the team get ever so close with El Clasico directly deciding which team keeps the bragging rights.

Speaking to the media ahead of the game in Galicia, Ancelotti was asked about the special milestone, to which he said,

“There are many good memories, some not good ones. I didn’t know, but I think the goal here is to add the maximum number of games possible. I’ll look for the 300 in La Liga. Let’s see if I can arrive.”
