Real Madrid closing on Lyon defender Ferland Mendy

Real Madrid are reportedly in pole position to sign Lyon defender Ferland Mendy this summer, with the player having told Zinedine Zidane of his intention to join the club.
Los Blancos have been eyeing a move for Mendy for a while now but a story in the French press has claimed that Zidane’s men have made now made official contact over the past few days.
L’Equipe say that Real Madrid have made an offer of €30m for the left-back but Lyon value their sought-after asset at nearer to €50m.
Their story indicates that Madrid have now sent their general director, Jose Angel Sanchez, and head of transfers, Juni Calafat, to France in an attempt to close the deal, with Mendy desperate to work under Zidane.
All indications are that Madrid will be pay the asking price and add Mendy to their squad in the coming weeks.
