Despite turning 32 years old, Dani Carvajal is still going very strong for Real Madrid and recently expressed his desire to extend his contract which currently expires in 2025.

While a renewal is very much likely, Los Blancos must also start looking towards the future and secure an heir to take over from their long-standing first-choice right-back.

Real Madrid tracking Trent Alexander-Arnold

Further reaffirming Real Madrid’s interest in the England right-back, AS reports that Los Blancos are very close following the 25-year-old.

Alexander-Arnold endured a difficult summer during which he was overlooked by former England manager Gareth Southgate at the UEFA Euro 2024 or played out of position in midfield.

However, the Liverpool homegrown talent is slowly returning to his best as was seen during the Three Lions’ recent two matches during the international break under new manager Lee Carsley.

Having been reinstated to the right-back position by the interim boss, Alexander-Arnold churned out top displays and was voted the Man of the Match against the Republic of Ireland and Finland.

Real Madrid, for their part, are understood to be closely following Alexander-Arnold with the idea of signing him in 2025, when his contract expires.

While the 25-year-old has not given any indication of wanting to leave Anfield, the fact that he can talk to other clubs starting January means Real Madrid have a chance to close the deal.

Alexander-Arnold also happens to share a very close bond with Real Madrid talisman Jude Bellingham, which could be a key factor.

Liverpool, for their part, intend to renew their academy graduate’s contract until 2029, and will not go down without a fight.

So, only time will tell where Alexander-Arnold will be plying his trade come 2025. But what appears to be clear is that Real Madrid have him on their agenda.
