La Liga giants Real Madrid are closing on a final agreement with Portuguese counterparts Benfica, over a player exchange deal.

That’s according to market insider Fabrizio Romano, who has provided an insight into the situation.

The player primed to take his talents to Spain’s capital as part of the deal comes in the form of long-time Blancos target Álvaro Carreras.

Following weeks of rampant speculation surrounding Carreras’ name, Real Madrid finally look set to land their first-choice left-back target.

And heading in the other direction as part of the discussions, it is understood, will be Rafael Obrador.

Obrador for his part is a 21-year-old defender who spent this past season out on loan away from Real Madrid, with Deportivo La Coruña.

Also a left-back, it would appear that the youngster is considered a potential long-term replacement for Carreras in Lisbon.

As per a report from Fabrizio Romano:

‘Real Madrid are closing in on Álvaro Carreras deal… with Rafael Obrador to Benfica included as part of negotiations. Fixed fee plus Obrador deal at the final stages with clubs set to complete the agreement in next days.’
