Real Madrid ended their La Liga 2024-25 campaign with another good outing as they faced Real Sociedad at the Santiago Bernabeu. The Merengues won this game with a 2-0 scoreline, but the night was overshadowed by affairs other than football being played on the pitch.

This was primarily because it was the time for three beloved individuals to say their goodbyes to the Merengue fans. One of them was Carlo Ancelotti, and another was Luka Modric, as both of them played in front of Real Madrid fans for the last time and received an emotional farewell from them.

Meanwhile, it was also the final game in front of the home fans for Lucas Vázquez, the Los Blancos captain who has not been as flashy and celebrated as most of his other teammates, but whose commitment and love for the club cannot be doubted by anyone.

Barring a year on loan with RCD Espanyol, the Spaniard spent the whole of his youth and adult career at Real Madrid. He has been associated with the Merengue club since 2007.

As a result, he was one of the most senior players in the squad, one who had been a part of the legendary team that won the three-peat under Zinedine Zidane and then won another two UCLs with Carlo Ancelotti.

While his performances in some big games left a lot to be desired this season, Vazquez put in a reliable performance in his farewell game at Santiago Bernabeu.

As Sofascore statistics show, he remained on the pitch for 77 minutes, after which he received his farewell. During his time on the pitch, he made 2 clearances, made 1 tackle, and blocked 1 shot.

He had an 89% passing success rate in this match, as he completed 40 of his 45 attempted passes. However, neither of the 2 passes he attempted on the night was accurate.

He has had better performances this season, but this last outing at the Santiago Bernabeu was not really bad. This season has been quite hard on him, as he has never been a natural fullback, and had to play almost the entirety of the season at the right-back position as Dani Carvajal was injured and no substitute was signed.

It remains to be seen what his future holds, but Lucas Vazquez will still be a part of the Club World Cup squad for Real Madrid. After that, Dani Carvajal will hopefully make his return to fitness, and there might be a new fullback for this position as well, i.e., Trent Alexander-Arnold.
