Real Madrid are feeling more optimistic after this weekend, believing that the race for the top spot is far from over. In fact, according to journalist Edu Aguirre, the club now feels they can catch up with Barcelona, who they believe are not invincible.

The past few weeks have been a tough period for Real Madrid. It all started with a heavy 0-4 defeat at home to Barcelona in La Liga, followed by a disappointing 1-3 loss to AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League.

These results were damaging both in terms of morale and performance. Things didn’t get any easier for the team, as in their match against Osasuna, Real Madrid suffered a series of unfortunate injuries.

Rodrygo was forced off early in the first 20 minutes, and then star defender Eder Militao sustained a serious knee injury. To make matters worse, Lucas Vazquez also had to leave the field during the match.

Despite these setbacks, Real Madrid managed to secure an impressive 4-0 victory, with Vinicius Jr. scoring a hat-trick and Jude Bellingham netting his first goal of the season. The win was a major relief for the team, bringing some positivity after a rough stretch.

The feel-good factor

While the injuries from the Osasuna game will be a major blow to Real Madrid’s squad, there was some good news elsewhere. Barcelona also suffered a defeat, losing 0-1 to Real Sociedad.

This result brought hope to the Madrid camp, as it meant the gap between the two teams remained just six points. Had Barcelona won, the lead could have stretched to nine points, although Real Madrid would still have a match in hand.

However, the psychological advantage of Barcelona’s loss has reignited belief at the Santiago Bernabéu, showing that the season is far from decided.

This turn of events has given Real Madrid renewed optimism, and they now feel they have a chance to close the gap on their rivals, proving that the title race is still very much alive.
