French President Emmanuel Macron reportedly couldn’t persuade Real Madrid’s chief, Florentino Perez, to let Kylian Mbappé participate in the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

Last Tuesday, Perez attended a celebration at the Elysée Palace with Macron for FIFA’s 120th anniversary. During the event, reports emerged that they discussed the possibility of the 25-year-old playing in the Olympics.

However, despite any conversations they might have had, it wasn’t enough to secure a spot for the soon-to-be former Paris Saint-Germain star to play in the summer games in his hometown.

On Friday, Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti sidestepped a question about whether the Spanish giants have been firm in denying the Frenchman’s chance to play at the Olympics this summer.

“I do not get involved in these questions,” Ancelotti told the media (h/t Le10Sport). “But I love the Olympic Games, it’s fun.”

Los Blancos are standing firm that there will be no special treatment for Mbappé once he arrives at the La Liga team this summer. It seems that winning a gold medal in his hometown is something that the player might have to discard.
