It was revealed yesterday that Real Madrid are in the market for at least three new players this summer, as they look to strengthen the squad ahead of the new season.

One of the priority targets for Real Madrid is to sign a new attacker. To that end, Diario AS (h/t Madrid Xtra) claims the club are assessing La Liga for a new striker this summer.

It appears Los Blancos are primarily looking for a short-term alternative for Karim Benzema. Although the Frenchman has continued his goalscoring trend, he is nearing the end of his career. Real Madrid, therefore, require a viable alternative for the veteran attacker.

Mariano Diaz has been a part of the team for the past five years. But with just six La Liga goals, he will be allowed to leave the club on a free transfer this summer. The forward is already looking out for potential suitors across the world.

Real Madrid need a more competent replacement for Diaz, which is why they are now searching La Liga. The club would prefer someone who already has experience in Spanish football.

The likes of Enes Unal and Inaki Williams could be interesting options for Real Madrid. The club were linked with a move for Vedat Muriqi earlier in the year as well. The Kosovan forward has racked up 14 league goals this term and could be an interesting alternative for Benzema.

Real Madrid, though, could use a more tactically flexible alternative, who can also operate in the wider areas if required. That is where someone like Williams could be a viable option.

There are no shortage of options elsewhere in Europe either, so it will be interesting to see who they end up signing in this coming summer.
