Real Madrid have just secured their place in the final of the Champions League. Los Blancos overcame Manchester City in the Santiago Bernabeu by three goals to one yesterday and will play their sixth final of the 21st century.
Despite their collective strengths, Real Madrid do not want to show complacency and are seeking to improve their present squad. Strengthening the midfield specifically has been a great point of interest for the Spanish champions for the coming campaign.
According to a report by Fichajes, Los Blancos are on the lookout for Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans. The Belgian international is considered by the English club to be worth €30 million. The Champions League finalists are not alone in their quest for him.
Arsenal want to increase their squad depth for next season, and see Tielemans as the perfect candidate to compete with the likes of Granit Xhaka, Thomas Partey, and Lokonga.
Juventus meanwhile want to make up for failing to sign Ryan Gravenberch from Ajax. Manchester United’s future boss Eric ten Hag considers the Belgian to be pivotal to his football next season, and will promptly want to unite with him in the following campaign.
For Real Madrid, meanwhile, signing Tielemans will be crucial to their prospects of midfield dominance next season in Europe.
Los Merengues already boast one of the world’s best midfield trios, and want to maximise on the present while readying themselves for the future.
Given the Belgian’s contract will end in 2023, Real Madrid want to capitalise on this to sign him. Leicester have little control over the situation, as they have to make a profit while they can, lest they lose him on a free deal in a year’s time.
Tielemans is 24, and if he is signed, will join Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga, and possibly Aurelien Tchouameni in leading the line in the central midfield for Real Madrid, for the next decade.
