In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Real Madrid are showing interest in Feyenoord defender Lutsharel Geertruida. It has been claimed that Los Blancos are eyeing a €35m move to secure the services of the Dutch full-back.

Geertruida’s Impressive Run Of Form In The Eredivisie

Geertruida is having an impressive campaign at the Dutch club after putting in a run of decent displays on the right side of their backline. The 23-year-old has scored five times and earned a couple of assists in 26 appearances for Feyenoord this season across all fronts.

The Dutch talent has caught the eye in both halves and has done well to average 1.3 tackles, 1.0 interceptions, 0.8 clearances, 1.1 shots, 1.1 key passes and 0.6 dribbles per game in the Dutch Eredivisie. He has even been tidy with his ball distribution after completing 91.3% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Dutch club will expire in the summer of 2025. Therefore, it won’t be easy for Real Madrid to sign him on the cheap this month. However, they could potentially land him on a cut-price deal at the end of this season.

What Will Geertruida Bring To Real Madrid?

Geertruida is a solid tackler of the ball and can sense the danger well to earn possession back for his team inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when required and can set up a few inviting chances for his teammates from the right flank.

The Rotterdam-born sensation is a good dribbler with the ball as well and can shoot the ball with power from long range. He is primarily a right-back but can also play as a centre-back or as a defensive midfielder if needed.

We can expect Geertruida to bring more quality to Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti’s defence. He is good enough to serve as an ideal successor to Dani Carvajal at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium.

At 23, Geertruida has his best years ahead of him which makes him a worthy target for Los Blancos to consider in this winter transfer window. He could help the Madrid giants compete for some major trophies over the next decade. Thus, Ancelotti should think about moving in for him before the end of this month.
