In a recent report, AS mentioned that Real Madrid are keeping tabs on Zenit St. Petersburg defender Robert Renan. It has been stated that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to secure the services of the Brazilian talent next year.

Renan’s Impressive Run Of Form In Russian Football

Renan has made a solid start to this campaign after putting in a few dominant performances at the heart of Zenit’s defence. The Brazilian youngster has made eight appearances for the Russian outfit this season but is still waiting to score or assist a goal for them on all fronts.

The 20-year-old has been a decent performer on the defensive end of the field based on his average of 1.5 tackles, 1.5 interceptions and 2.3 clearances per 90 minutes in the Russian Premier League. He has even taken care of the ball when distributing it from the back as evidenced by his pass success rate of 89.8% in the top tier of Russian football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Russian club will run out in the summer of 2028 which could make it difficult for the Madrid club to land him on the cheap next year.

Real Madrid Are Keeping Tabs On Renan: Is He A Prospect For The Future?

Renan is a good tackler of the ball and can scan the danger well to earn the ball back for his side inside his half. He usually puts his foot through the ball when needed and is also proficient at playing his way out from the back. Standing at 1.85m, the Brazilian can use his strong frame to be a dominant force in the air. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to adjust to life at the highest level.

Renan is already good enough to challenge for a regular first-team spot at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. At 20, the future looks quite promising for the South American whizkid. Hence, Los Blancos should focus on getting a deal done for him in 2024.

Renan is undoubtedly a prospect to watch out for in the future which makes him a worthy, long-term option for the Madrid giants to pursue this winter or at the end of this campaign.
