In a recent report, Fichajes mentioned that Real Madrid are keen on recruiting Manchester City midfielder Rodri this summer. It has been claimed that Los Blancos are eager to secure the services of the Spanish midfield ace as they look to replace Toni Kroos who announced his retirement from playing football recently.

Rodri has enjoyed a decent campaign at the Mancunian club as he managed to put in a series of impressive displays at the heart of their midfield. The Spaniard has been involved in 49 matches for Man City this season, netting nine goals and grabbing 14 assists on all fronts.

The 27-year-old has been a good performer at both ends of the field based on his average of 2.1 tackles, 0.8 interceptions, 1.2 clearances, 1.8 shots, 1.4 key passes and 1.2 dribbles per game in the Premier League. He was even accurate when distributing the ball from midfield after making 92.5% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the Etihad Stadium will expire in the summer of 2027 which could make it tough for Los Blancos to land him on the cheap at the end of this season.

Is Rodri A Decent Choice For Real Madrid?

Rodri loves a tackle and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his side inside his half. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when needed and is a tidy passer as well.

The Spanish sensation has got the vision to create some promising chances for others around him in the opponent’s half and can strike the ball purely and with venom from long range. He is full of energy and running in the middle of the park and would be a great fit for Real Madrid‘s needs heading into the new season.

Rodri would add more bite and steel to Carlo Ancelotti’s midfield and could help Los Blancos challenge for some major honours over the next few years. At 27, he is about to enter his prime which makes him an excellent choice for the Madrid giants to consider later this summer. All in all, Ancelotti should focus on getting a deal done for the Spaniard soon.
