In a recent report, L’Equipe mentioned that Real Madrid are in talks to land Arsenal defender William Saliba. It has been claimed that Los Blancos are hoping to get a deal done for the France international this summer.

Saliba’s Impressive Run Of Form In English Football This Season

Saliba had another impressive campaign at the North London club after he produced a series of solid performances at the heart of their defence. The French centre-back has made 48 appearances for the Gunners this season, scoring two goals in all competitions.

The 24-year-old has been a decent performer when defending inside his half as he is averaging 1.8 tackles, 0.6 interceptions and 3.4 clearances per game in the Premier League. He has been even tidy when distributing the ball from the back based on his pass success rate of 94.5% in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at Arsenal will expire in the summer of 2027 which would make it difficult for Los Blancos to get a deal done for him on the cheap this off-season.

Will Saliba Be A Dream Signing For Real Madrid?

Saliba loves a tackle and can sense the danger well to make some timely interceptions for his side on the defensive third of the pitch. He doesn’t mind putting his foot through the ball when required.

Standing at 1.92m, the French sensation can use his strong frame to dominate the opposition attackers in the air. He can even play his way out from inside his half. However, the Arsenal powerhouse might need some time to adjust to life in La Liga if Real Madrid manage to bring him on board this summer.

Saliba would no doubt enhance the quality of Real Madrid‘s backline. He is more than capable of securing a regular starting spot at the Madrid club in the coming seasons.

At 24, Saliba has his best years ahead of him. Hence, he would be a dream signing for Los Blancos to pull off in this summer transfer window. Saliba has also got plenty of UEFA Champions League experience under his belt and could help Real Madrid compete across all fronts over the next few years. Thus, it makes sense for the Madrid outfit to go all out to sign him this summer.
