In a recent segment on Youtube, journalist Ramon Alvarez de Mon mentioned that Real Madrid are close to recruiting LOSC Lille starlet Leny Yoro this summer. It is believed that Los Blancos are eyeing the French talent as a target for the upcoming transfer window.

Yoro’s Impressive Form In Ligue 1 This Season

The 18-year-old has enjoyed a rapid rise at the French club and deserves credit for putting in a handful of solid performances at the centre of their backline. Yoro has participated in 37 matches for Lille this season, scoring three goals on all fronts.

The French defensive ace has been a dominant presence inside his half based on his average of 1.1 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 3.1 clearances per game in Ligue 1. He has even distributed possession relatively well from the back after completing 92.4% of his attempted passes in the French top tier (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at the French club will expire next summer which could open the door for Los Blancos to sign him on a cut-price deal at the end of this campaign.

Real Madrid Are Close To Recruiting Yoro: Is He A Star In The Making?

Yoro is a tough-tackling central defender who can scan the danger well and can make some timely interceptions for his team on the defensive third of the pitch. He doesn’t hesitate to clear the danger when the opposition are on the front foot.

The French starlet can even use his strong 1.90m frame to win a few important 50-50 aerial duels and excels at playing his way out from the back as well. However, he is still quite raw and would need time to prove himself at the highest level.

Yoro is already good enough to add more bite and steel to Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti’s defence. At 18, the talented teenager has got the potential to become one of the best players in his position someday.

There is no denying that Yoro is a star in the making, so Los Blancos would be wise to bring him to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium when the transfer window reopens later this year. However, only time will tell whether Yoro can maintain his good form in Spanish football.
