Spanish club Real Madrid have announced the signing of former Manchester City winger Hayley Raso on a free transfer.

The Whites announced the news via a post on their official club Twitter account just a short time ago.

Raso left Manchester City at the end of last season after spending two years at The Academy Stadium. The Australian international made 47 appearances for The Cityzens in which she scored nine goals. Raso was an FA Women’s Continental Tyres League Cup winner with Manchester City in 2021/2022.

The 28-year-old endured a challenging time at Manchester City with Raso so often finding herself named as a substitute. The level of competition at the Barclays Women’s Super League club made it difficult for her to nail down a regular starting spot.

Raso has long been linked with a move to Spain with Real Madrid and that transfer has now been confirmed with Raso being unveiled by The Whites today.

Raso is Real Madrid’s third new signing of the summer transfer window following the recent additions of Oihane Hernández and Mylène Chavas. The club will be hoping to close the gap between themselves and fierce rivals FC Barcelona in the coming seasons and a strong recruitment drive this summer will only help their cause.
