Real Madrid are set to complete the transfer of Jude Bellingham having struck an agreement with Borussia Dortmund, according to The Athletic.

Off the back of yet another excellent season, Bellingham was wanted by several European clubs, including Liverpool and Manchester City.

However, Liverpool backed out of a potential deal due to the finances involved, while Man City never presented an official bid despite holding a strong interest in the 19-year-old.

This provided Madrid with a free run in their pursuit of Bellingham, who will undergo a medical in the coming days ahead of his move to Los Blancos.

Madrid will fork out a fee north of €100 million for Bellingham as he becomes their first signing of the summer window.

Dortmund have a midfield addition already lined up as Ajax’s Edson Alvarez closes in a move to last season’s Bundesliga runners-up.

The addition of Bellingham provides Madrid with yet another long-term option in the middle of the park, joining Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni.

Bellingham’s arrival also comes off the back of a recent exodus of players from the Spanish capital.

Karim Benzema, Marco Asensio and Mariano Diaz have left Madrid as free agents, while Eden Hazard parted ways via a mutual contract termination.

Having pretty much wrapped up a deal for Bellingham, Madrid will be expected to move on to other transfer targets.

Benzema’s largely unexpected departure has left the La Liga giants in search of a new striker, and Harry Kane has emerged as the prime candidate but there is still work to do before a deal can be struck.

Madrid are also keen on landing Kai Havertz from Chelsea, who are open to letting the Germany international leave Stamford Bridge this summer.
