Last week, Real Madrid superstar Thibaut Courtois made his comeback to the Belgium national setup after over a year.

The 32-year-old started in goal as the Red Devils faced Ukraine in the UEFA Nations League, under new manager Rudi Garcia.

Courtois’ return turned out to be a disappointing one as Belgium lost 3-1. A couple of days later, the Real Madrid ace was out of the starting lineup as his national team faced the same opposition and won 3-0, securing a 4-3 victory on aggregate.

Courtois will be ready for Leganes

As reported on Sunday, Courtois’ absence from the Belgium lineup for the second game against Ukraine was due to a muscle problem.

Building on that, journalist Melchor Ruiz now reports that Courtois’ absence from the match between Belgium and Ukraine was only done as a precaution as he was dealing with a muscle strain.

However, it is not seen as a major issue and it is expected that the Real Madrid goalkeeper will be ready to face Leganes in La Liga later this week.

This will come as a relief for the Merengues, who have had a difficult time dealing with several injury problems this season.

Losing one of their most important players heading into the business end of the season would have been a major blow for Carlo Ancelotti & co.

But, as things stand, Courtois’ issue is not expected to prevent him from gearing up and taking the field when Real Madrid face off against Leganes in La Liga.
