At a time when it seemed impossible for Real Madrid Castilla stars to break into the first-team, Raul Asencio has defied all odds and made himself a mainstay under Carlo Ancelotti.

Indeed, the youngster has had luck by his side to get opportunities at the club with repeated injuries plaguing Los Blancos in central defence.

However, the player deserves a lot of credit for stepping up under pressure without breaking a sweat and looking mature beyond his years for Real Madrid.

Unreal impact

As relayed in a recent report by MARCA, the impact Asencio has had on Real Madrid since making his debut as a youth star is not one many saw coming and is incredible in every sense of the word.

After all, the Merengues looked lost for options in defense when Asencio entered the picture as they had just lost Eder Militao to another season-ending injury and David Alaba was not yet declared fit.

Since then, Real Madrid have had even more turbulent periods at the back and have been without both Antonio Rudiger and David Alaba in recent games. Asencio, in their absence, has taken up the responsibility.

It is thus safe to say that the academy star has saved Ancelotti at a time of emergency by performing at an extraordinary level and has massively helped Real Madrid bridge the void in defense until the summer.

At this point, it is clear that Asencio is one to stay and one for the long haul and the only thing that remains is for him to renew his deal with Real Madrid.

His current contract at the club runs until June 2026, but the Spanish outlet confirm that the matter will be dealt with before the end of the season and that the player will be tied down to the first team.
