Real Madrid’s promising 17-year-old defender, Jesus Fortea, is looking forward to discussing his future with the club before he turns 18 on 26 March.

According to recent reports from AS, both the player and his representatives are keen to secure a contract renewal to continue his development at the iconic Spanish club.

Fortea’s current contract runs until 2026, but it contains provisions for renegotiation before he comes of age.

This approach was designed to safeguard the young player’s future if his development progressed as expected — a condition that has been met.

Real Madrid continue to see him as a potential first-team player, while Fortea himself remains committed to making his dream of a long-term future with the club a reality.

Fortea ready to talk

Unlike previous reports that claimed otherwise, it is said that talks are expected to take place in the coming weeks, with all parties aiming to reach an agreement before Fortea’s milestone birthday.

The club hopes to finalise the deal smoothly, avoiding complications that could lead to interest from rival teams.

In that regard, several top-tier clubs from both Spain and abroad are reportedly interested in Fortea.

These offers come from elite teams across Europe, signalling the widespread recognition of his talent. However, Real Madrid intend to keep hold of the full-back, who is regarded by some as the potential heir to Dani Carvajal.

Challenges for the youngster

Fortea has faced challenges in recent months. Although he trained with the first team in October and was close to making his debut, other players were ultimately selected ahead of him.

Despite this setback, the young defender remains determined to continue progressing within the Madrid system. He currently plays between Real Madrid C and Juvenil A, where Alvaro Arbeloa has been instrumental in his growth.

The club plans to integrate Fortea gradually, with appearances in key competitions like the Youth League and the Copa del Rey, where he is expected to start against Betis in the upcoming round of 16 match.

As the crucial meeting on his renewal approaches, Fortea’s focus remains firmly on wearing the white shirt for years to come.
