On Friday, AC Milan confirmed the permanent signing of Alex Jimenez. The 19-year-old defender arrived at the Serie A giants last summer on loan from Real Madrid, and the buy clause that was part of that deal, worth an estimated €5m, has been triggered.
However, Real Madrid can still have a say in Jimenez’s future, as they tend to do with the vast majority of young talents that they sell. Fabrizio Romano has reported that a buy-back clause was agreed with Milan. Should it be triggered next summer, it would be worth €9m, and it would increase to €12m for 2026.
It means that Real Madrid will no doubt be keeping a close eye on Jimenez’s development at Milan over the next year or two. He featured a few times in the first team last season, and if he can establish himself going forward, it would surely make sense to re-sign him down the line.
