Real Madrid vs Borussia Dortmund LIVE!
Real Madrid just about beat Borussia Dortmund 3-2 as they progressed into the semi-finals of the Club World Cup. In a fairly dull affair for the most part at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, it was Xabi Alonso’s side who took the lead inside ten minutes, when Gonzalo Garcia knocked home an Arda Guler cross.
His namesake Fran Garcia was on hand to double the advantage with well-taken finish from Trent Alexander-Arnold’s cut-back, and it seemed as though Real were cruising through, until injury time madness unfolded.
Substitute Max Beier scored for Dortmund to halve the deficit late on, before Kylian Mbappe netted a spectacular scissor kick to surely put the game to bed. That wasn’t the case, as Dean Huijsen was dismissed for hauling back Serhou Guirassy, whose penalty made it interesting once more. Thibaut Courtois won it at the death for Real, as he saved Marcel Sabitzer’s effort from point-blank range.
