Real Betis could reportedly rival Ajax for the signing of Mexican youngster Diego Lainez.

The 18-year-old burst on to the Liga MX scene last season and impressed with five goals and as many assists in just 15 appearances.

The wide man has attracted the attention of the Eredivisie outfit who were thought to have tabled a €10m bid earlier this month.

But now a story in Mucho Deporte has claimed that Betis are also interested in the teenager and will make their own offer before the winter window shuts at the end of January.

Scouts from the Seville side were apparently in Mexico on several occasions towards the end of 2018 to watch Lainez and were also there to see his national team debut against Uruguay in September.
