La Liga outfit Real Betis have confirmed that the club will face off against Premier League giants Manchester United, as part of preparations for the 2024/25 campaign.
Betis made as much official courtesy of an announcement across the club’s website and social media platforms on Tuesday.
The meeting will take place on July 31st, at the Snapdragon Stadium, in San Diego, California.
Real Betis and Manchester United have gone head-to-head on three occasions in the past, all within the space of the last two years.
After first meeting in a friendly in December of 2022, the clubs then tested their talents against one another in a double-header in last season’s edition of the Europa League.
The Verdiblancos emerged triumphant from the first, but United’s quality proved telling in the ensuing pair of fixtures, Erik ten Hag’s troops having emerged on the right side of a 5-1 aggregate triumph.
As per Betis’ official release on the friendly clash:
‘Real Betis will travel to the United States for a new pre-season tour in the North American country. The first opponent already confirmed is Manchester United, against whom Real Betis will play on the 31st of July at the Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego (California), time to be confirmed.
‘Manchester United is one of the most important clubs in the world, both on a social and sporting level, with 20 Premier League titles, 12 FA Cups, 3 European Cups and 1 Club World Cup, among others. A very demanding challenge for Real Betis as they prepare for next season against an opponent full of international stars and with fans all over the world.’
