Real Betis are in advanced talks to sign Sporting Lisbon right-back Hector Bellerin ahead of next season, reports Fabrizio Romano.

The Spaniard joined the Portuguese club on loan from Barcelona for the rest of the season in January.

Bellerin featured in seven games across all competitions for the La Liga club during the first half of the season.

The 28-year-old had just six months left on his deal at the Camp Nou club at the time.

He joined Sporting as a replacement for Pedro Porro, who moved to Tottenham Hotspur.

Bellerin has featured in six games for his new club but is eyeing a return to La Liga.

He spent 2021-22 on loan at Betis after falling out of favour at Arsenal.

The La Masia graduate played in 32 games across all competitions for Los Verdiblancos.

He returned to the Gunners afterwards and his contract was terminated, allowing him to join Barca for free.

Betis were keen on retaining his services and also tried to sign him before he moved to his boyhood club.

Talks are entering the final stages and a return appears to be on the cards.

Bellerin played some of his best football in recent seasons at the Estadio Benito Villamarin club.

Betis manager Manuel Pellegrini found a way to get the Spaniard performing close to the level he did in 2015-16.

Bellerin made the Premier League PFA Team of the Year that season after assisting five times.

He claimed four assists across the Europa League and La Liga and his performances convinced Barca to go after him.

Unfortunately, things did not work out under Xavi and Bellerin was allowed to leave in January.

He still has a point to prove in La Liga and a return to Betis will give him a chance to do so.
