The powers that be at La Liga outfit Real Betis have made contact with their counterparts at Chelsea, over a potential summer signing.

That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards David Datro Fofana as the player in question.

Fofana, for his part, spent this past season plying his trade across a pair of loan spells away from parent club Chelsea.

The 2nd, in the Premier League with Burnley, saw the 21-year-old turn heads courtesy of some eye-catching displays, on his way to five goal contributions in 15 appearances.

And one club to have had their attentions piqued by Fofana’s exploits at Turf Moor, it would appear, were Real Betis.

On the lookout for reinforcements in the attacking third with a view to next season, the brass at the Estadio Benito Villamarín are understood to have made contact with Chelsea, over a season-long loan deal for the Ivorian.

As per MD, citing ABC, Chelsea’s response proved an emphatic one, ‘informing Betis that they have Fofana’s services and that they have no intention of loaning him out at the moment’.

It should be noted, however, that the talented striker has since been left off the Blues’ squad list for their pre-season tour of the USA.

One to keep an eye on over the weeks ahead…
