La Liga outfit Real Betis have on Saturday released a statement, confirming the extent of the injury suffered by Johnny Cardoso.

Midfielder Cardoso for his part set alarm bells ringing in Heliopolis earlier this week.

This came after the 23-year-old was forced into a premature departure from the United States national team’s meeting with Jamaica.

En route to a 1-0 victory for the USA, Johnny pulled up with what appeared to be a muscular problem, with just 20 minutes on the clock.

‘Following the assessment and tests carried out by the USA team’s medical services on our player Johnny Cardoso, it has been confirmed that he has a moderate muscle injury in his left femoral biceps.The recovery period is pending development.’
