Real Betis sporting director Manu Fajardo has confirmed the club’s intention to extend the loan of Antony with

Attacker Antony is for his part of course in the midst of an altogether productive stint in Spain.

After linking up with La Liga outfit Real Betis on loan during the January transfer window, the Brazilian has since gone on to establish himself as one of the first names on the team sheet of boss Manuel Pellegrini.

Looking a player reborn, Antony has racked up eight direct goal contributions across 12 appearances in all competitions to date.

With such fine form, though, comes inevitable chatter surrounding the future of the former Ajax man.

Antony, as things stand, is due to return to base with Manchester United in the summer.

Amid mounting speculation in the media of late that Real Betis could yet move to extend his stay in Andalusia, though, the subject of the club’s plans for Antony was in turn put to the aforementioned Manu Fajardo this weekend.

And Betis’ sporting director, in quotes provided to Movistar and relaid by Mundo Deportivo, was not shy in confirming:

“It’s a source of satisfaction on a personal level, but it’s the result of teamwork. Although I’m responsible for the sporting direction, there are many people involved in this signing. It’s still early days, but we’ll try in different ways to do everything possible to continue enjoying Antony.”
