Real Betis head coach Manuel Pellegrini has on Saturday provided an update on the personnel situation in his squad.
This comes ahead of a daunting return to action for Betis in 24 hours’ time, when they will make the trip to the Santiago Bernabéu for a La Liga showdown with reigning champions Real Madrid.
The Verdiblancos have endured something of a hit-and-miss start to the new campaign, impressing on the continent, but stuttering to back-to-back draws on the domestic front.
Safe to say, then, that emerging from Spain’s capital with any sort of positive result would represent a welcome boost for Sunday’s visitors.
Unfortunately for Real Betis, however, efforts towards as much will come sans the contributions of several leading members of the club’s squad.
Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Saturday, Manuel Pellegrini was asked for the latest on the personnel situation in Seville.
And the Chilean tactician went on to admit that four players, including star midfielder Isco and deadline day signing Giovani Lo Celso, will play no part in Madrid:
“Isco, Bakambu, Bartra and Lo Celso will not play against Real Madrid.”
