La Liga outfit Real Betis are closing on a deal for an up-and-coming member of the defensive ranks at German heavyweights Borussia Dortmund.
That’s according to El Chiringuito TV, who point towards Soumaïla Coulibaly as the player in question.
Stopper Coulibaly, for his part, has been on the books of Dortmund since back in 2021, when he opted to make the move to Signal Iduna Park from Paris Saint-Germain.
To date, however, the Frenchman has struggled in efforts to carve out a first-team role for himself with BVB.
He was, in turn, farmed out on loan this past season, linking up with Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp.
After something of a hit-and-miss campaign in the Jupiler Pro League, however, Antwerp ultimately came to the decision not to activate their option to make Coulibaly’s signing permanent.
Not in the plans of parent club Dortmund, either, the 20-year-old is therefore closing on a fresh departure, on this occasion to Spain.
As per a report from Gonzalo Tortosa of El Chiringuito TV:
‘Real Betis are working on a loan with option to buy Soumaïla Coulibaly.’
Negotiations are well underway between the two clubs, with middle ground on the value of the purchase clause being sought.
Coulibaly, for his part, has already given his ‘okay’ to a move to the Estadio Benito Villamarín.
