Chelsea’s season is reaching an exciting climax now. We’re in to the final stretch of the Premier League, the Conference League has reached the Quarter Finals, and then we’ve got the Club World Cup to follow.
With bigger games come bigger atmospheres, and we’re expecting a lot from the game against Legia Warsaw tomorrow. They will be serving up something special in their stadium, and we can’t wait for it.
Enzo Maresca was asked about what he expected from it all in his pre-match press conference today, and he said he was looking forward to it:
“When the environment is the one we have tomorrow, or the one in Tottenham game at home, it’s nice because we play with an extra player. You feel that. They will have this tomorrow night probably.”
He also noted that in his playing career he had had games in Greece and Turkey in similar intense atmospheres which he had really enjoyed.

The conclusion of all this atmosphere talk was a question about whether youngsters like Tyrique George and Josh Acheampong, who have both made major contributions to the Conference League campaign, would be ready to start in an intense atmosphere. Maresca was in no doubt:
“They are ready. Ty [George] is ready, Josh [Acheampong] is ready. The young players are ready. Josh played two Premier League games in a row. Ty exactly the same. They are ready to play from the start.”
We would love to see both of them start. And it’s not impossible – Maresca has trusted them both at different times, as he points out. Do we expect to see them both tomorrow? Not really, the stakes are maybe too high. But given how important it is to rest a whole bunch of players for Sunday, we feel we’ve got a good chance of seeing one from the start, and after these comments – maybe even both?
