There were mixed opinions on Rotherham's winner at the weekend, with some Royals fans blaming David Button for their second goal.

Reading suffered a setback on Saturday, falling to a 2-1 loss against Rotherham United.

Having secured six points against Huddersfield Town and Burton Albion ahead of this clash in South Yorkshire, the Royals' fanbase would have been hoping for at least a draw in last weekend's game, despite their woeful away record in recent years.

And it looked as though they were on their way to a win when Lewis Wing fired the visitors into the lead with an excellent free kick, with that strike coming in the 26th minute.

Heading into the break 1-0 up against a struggling team, the Berkshire side would have hoped to have secured at least a point from the game.

But Rotherham scored twice early on in the second half to make it 2-1 - and the away side's chances of equalising were hampered when Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan was sent off with just over 20 minutes to go.

They may face Cheltenham Town in the EFL Trophy tonight, but they have a break from league action now and that will give Ruben Selles plenty to contemplate before their clash against Crawley Town on October 19th.

Some players look set to return after the international break - and that will provide some selection dilemmas.

Jeriel Dorsett could return, but it remains to be seen whether he will replace Andre Garcia in the starting lineup.

Dorsett isn't a natural full-back and he does have his weaknesses, but he has featured heavily under Selles and could potentially regain his place in the first 11.

Mamadi Camara may also be available after the break, but it's unclear whether he will start ahead of Adrian Akande or Chem Campbell.

David Button's controversial moment against Rotherham United

Joel Pereira is another player who could return after the break - and he could end up replacing David Button.

Before Saturday's game, Button did a good job against Huddersfield and Burton, performing better than fans had expected him to.

He also made some decent saves against Rotherham, but the Millers' second goal has caused real debate on social media.

A long cross was lofted in the air from the right-hand side, and although it was an awkward one to deal with, with Rotherham players in his path, many people would have expected him to at least punch the ball away.

Unfortunately, he lost the battle in the end and that allowed Hakeem Odoffin to head home.

After the game, some fans argued that Button was fouled, but that goal didn't look great in the highlights for the keeper.

Some of his shaky performances and howlers last season haven't helped in terms of whether fans give him the benefit of the doubt or not, but that moment may have opened the door for an injured player to return to the first 11 when they recover from their injury.

Ruben Selles may have an easy Reading FC decision to make in the goalkeeping department

With Pereira due back after the international break, it may be easier for him to regain his place after Rotherham's second goal.

Button has enjoyed some bright moments during his recent time between the sticks and he was arguably the Royals' man of the match against Huddersfield.

However, Pereira has been a real asset for the Berkshire side when he's played.

There have been a couple of dodgy moments from him, with errors against Burton and Blackpool at the end of last season being punished.

But all in all, he has been a reliable stopper who could make a difference for Selles' men when he returns.

The Royals should be prepared to start Button again if Pereira isn't fully fit for the Crawley game, but having the former back would be a real boost, especially with some of the club's other key first-teamers out of action at this stage, including captain Andy Yiadom.
