The Royals’ seven-year stint as a top tier club came to an end last month when they fell through the relegation trapdoor on the final day of the season.
Reading have since made the decision to revert to a part-time operating model next season. As a result, manager Kelly Chambers has opted to leave the club and 13 full-time players are now also set to move on.
It has been reported that Grace Moloney, Becky Jane, Amalie Eikeland, Emma Harries, Gemma Evans, Faye Bryson, Justine Vanhaevermaet, Emma Mukandi, Natasha Dowie, Deanne Rose, Chloe Peplow, Tinaya Alexander and Hannah Poulter are all moving on in a bid to continue their careers as full-time footballers. In total, the departing players have made 793 appearances for Reading in all competitions, goalkeeper Moloney holding the highest personal tally with 223 appearances.
At this stage, it is not known what the future holds for the other 15 full-time players on Reading’s books. The club will look to appoint a new manager and part-time playing squad in the coming weeks.
The new Barclays Women’s Championship season is scheduled to kick-off on the weekend of 26-27 August 2023.
