Niko Kovac (to DAZN): “We wanted to get through the group phase, we wanted to reach the round of 16. We've managed that. You cannot choose whether you finish first or second. We've finished first, we're happy about that. The first period was decent given this heat. When I see how many shots at goal we had, how many major chances. Overall, our xG was around three. In these temperatures, that is totally acceptable. Second period: You could see that the lads managed the game a bit. All things considered, we've deservedly progressed.”
Sebastian Kehl (in the mixed zone): “It was of course our expectation to get through this group. I believe that we improved, especially in the first period, and played significantly better than in the two previous matches. We should've scored four or five goals in the first period. Then the game might have also gone differently in the second period. We're delighted about qualification for the round of 16.”
Daniel Svensson (to DAZN): “Overall it was a good performance, especially in the first period. We dominated. We're confident for the next round as we've continually improved. The start was slightly sluggish but I think it was a good performance overall today. And yes, it was a very nice feeling to score a goal. We had the ball on the right flank and then we played it to Jobe (Bellingham), and I simply ran into the penalty area. He saw me, played the ball to me and then I tried to get a shot away as quickly as possible.”
Karim Adeyemi (to DAZN): “We could've perhaps scored more goals, but we've won, kept a clean sheet and are top of the group. I think that's pretty good. It was an improved performance. We've developed game by game. It's not easy here and it's not yet our limit that we want to play at. That's why we're not finished yet and are really up for the next match. We naturally want to win that one as well.”
Julian Brandt (in the mixed zone): “We've won the group. I've been watching a lot of the Club World Cup. There are currently not so many teams that are really shining, that make you say: amazing football. The tempo is definitely different from what we're used to in Europe. Nevertheless, we had many chances to score and certainly could or should have won the match by a much, much higher margin, but we've still come first in the group and are looking forward to the round of 16.”Transcribed by Boris Rupert
