RBL beaten by Atalanta after conceding two late goals | OneFootball

The Red Bulls suffered a narrow defeat in their third pre-season friendly. RBL's early goal came from a well-worked set piece in the 12th minute: Christoph Baumgartner swung in a corner from the left to the far post, where Loïs Openda was left unmarked by the Atalanta defence. The Belgian struck it first time with precision, firing into the bottom left corner.

Leipzig made wholesale changes at the break but struggled to create much going forward. In a quiet second half, Gianluca Scamacca levelled the score in the 85th minute. Lorenzo Bernasconi then grabbed a late winner for Atalanta in the 90th minute.

What a goal! A set piece provides the opening goal of the day for the Red Bulls. Christoph Baumgartner whips in a corner from the left to the back post. Lois Openda is unmarked and volleys it into the far corner.

21st minute: Almost a second!

David Raum fires a cross in from the left and the Atalanta goalkeeper can't quite gather the ball and Lois Openda is able to make contact at the back post. In the end, the angle is too narrow and he only finds the side-netting.

38th minute: Baumgartner gets a shot away

Another promising attacking move by our boys! Yan Diomande lays it off for Christoph Baumgartner on the edge of the box. His shot is well saved by goalkeeper Marco Carnesecchi.

51st minute: Banzuzi's shot saved

Ezechiel Banzuzi runs onto a pass on the right side of the box but doesn't have any support. Our number 6 tries his luck from a tight angle at the near post and forces the keeper into a strong save.

83rd minute: Great shot, great save

Antonio Nusa gets the better of several defenders on the left wing and curls one destined for the top corner. The Atalanta goalkeeper makes a great save to prevent RBL from going 2-0 up.

86th minute: Equaliser against the run of play

The visitors somewhat surprisingly have found an equaliser. Gianluca Scamacca receives the ball after some nice interplay and picks out the back of the net from 15 yards out.

90th minute: Atalanta score again

Despite being the better team over the course of the whole 90 minutes, RBL have lost this game. Lorenzo Bernasconi's strike from outside the box following a corner steals the win for Atalanta.
