RB Leipzig attacker Justin Kluivert, who joined the German side last month on loan from Roma, was interviewed today by De Telegraaf and discussed his departure from the Italian capital during the latter stages of the transfer window.
The Dutchman joined Julian Nagelsmann’s side on a straight loan deal after he fell down in the pecking order of Roma boss Paulo Fonseca.
“Before the period involving COVID, I played quite a bit apart from some injuries. Then all of the sudden I played very little and I still don’t understand why,” admitted the 21 year-old.
“Managers make decisions…it happens, there’s no hard feelings towards Fonseca. It sucks when you train very hard and then you don’t get to play match after match. When you’re a young footballer, you want to show what you’re capable of. So when a situation like this arises you have to choose what’s best for your future.”
He continued, “Then ultimately there was the chance to join Leipzig, a very interesting club. The Bundesliga is a league for attackers because there’s more space. I really think I can show my strengths here”
