RB Leipzig and Chelsea-bound forward Christopher Nkunku (25) is on track for a return to action by the end of February, according to a report from L’Equipe, and may feature in the Champions League tie against Manchester City.

The Cityzens will travel to Leipzig for the first leg of a mouth-watering Champions League last 16 tie on February 22nd, with the second leg at the Etihad Stadium to be played on March 14th. The former PSG man suffered a torn ligament in the build-up to the World Cup during a training session with Les Bleus. Didier Deschamps replaced him in the France squad with Eintracht Frankfurt player Randal Kolo Muani.

L’Equipe report that Bundesliga’s best goalscorer with twelve strikes in fifteen games is expected back in collective training with third-placed Leipzig in approximately ten days. Nkunku’s return will be a welcome boost for manager Marco Rose. Without the Frenchman, the Red Bull-owned team drew 1-1 with leaders Bayern Munich and humbled bottom-placed Schalke 6-1 in the last few days.
