RB Leipzig’s chances of winning a first Bundesliga title were dealt a huge blow after they were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Hoffenheim.

Julian Nagelsmann’s side have cut the gap to leaders Bayern Munich to four points but the reigning champions now have a game on hand on Die Roten Bullen.

The hosts were frustrated by the 11th-placed side throughout the furst half and failed to get up ahead of steam at any point.

But Leipzig came out firing in the second half and created enough chances to win two games, never mind one.

Christopher Nkunku forced a good save from the feet of Oliver Baumann before Tyler Adams somehow headed wide from six yards out when he was picked out by Emil Forsberg.

Marcel Sabitzer then drilled a low shot just wide as Nagelsmann’s men continued to up the pressure.

Alexander Sørloth came off the bench to give Leipzig an outlet up front and he spurned a shot well over the bar aster the ball bounced to him in the penalty area.

The Norwegian was nearly found at the back post in the dying minutes but failed to make proper contact with the ball as it floated over the bar.

There was late drama with the last action of the game as Yussuf Poulsen headed home what he thought was the winner in the 96th minute but the goal was ruled out by VAR as the ball struck his arm on the way into the net.

Bayern can extend their lead at the summit to seven points if they beat Wolfsburg on Saturday.
