RB Leipzig are set to sign PSG attacking midfielder Xavi Simons (21) in a reported €80m deal, according to BILD. The Dutch midfielder joined the Bundesliga side on loan from Les Parisiens eighteen months ago. Simons is expected to sign a two-and-a-half-year deal with the Red Bull-owned German club. Leipzig and PSG have reportedly struck an agreement over a €50m transfer fee that could rise to €80m in taking into account performance-related add-ons.
Simons joined PSG from Barcelona’s Masia Academy as a free agent in 2019. He never established himself at PSG and he appears to be out of Luis Enrique’s plans for the foreseeable, which prompted PSG to sanction his sale whilst his market value is high. Simons’ permanent departure from PSG frees up a space for Les Parisiens to allow out-of-favour centre-back Milan Škriniar to join Fenerbahçe on loan.
