RB Leipzig star Eljif Elmas has revealed his opinion that Real Madrid youngster Arda Güler will ultimately go on to establish himself as one of world football’s standout players.

This, of course, comes amid what has proven something of a tough start to life for Güler in Spain.

Owing to a combination of fitness woes and competition for places, Turkish sensation Güler, to date, has managed just four appearances in the colours of Real Madrid, since his arrival from Fenerbahçe last summer.

Such struggles have given rise to widespread media chatter, pointing towards growing frustration on the part of the 18-year-old.

Not only that, but word is beginning to mount that Güler could be in line for an exit from the Santiago Bernabéu this summer, in a bid to secure further first-team experience as part of a year-long loan.

Speaking to the media ahead of his side’s impending Champions League showdown with Real, the aforementioned Eljif Elmas, in turn, was drawn on the delicate situation of Los Blancos’ prodigious starlet.

This comes with Elmas himself having made his name in Turkey with Fenerbahçe.

And the 24-year-old is in no two minds when it comes to what lies ahead for Güler, adamant that the midfield creator, ultimately, will go on to become a leading figure in world football:

“Arda Güler… I didn’t get to play [with him at] Fenerbhaçe,” Elmas began, as part of an interview with Marca. “But I watch a lot of their games because I grew up there and I’m very fond of them. He is one of my own. I always support him. He is very young, but he already has experience. I’m sure that in the coming years he will become one of the best in Madrid and in the world.”
