Dani Olmo has been linked with some of Europe’s biggest clubs over the past few months but it is RB Leipzig who have won the race to sign him.

The Bundesliga leaders have confirmed the arrival of the Spaniard after agreeing deal worth a reported €45m – including bonuses – with Dinamo Zagreb.

An ex-Barcelona youth team player, Olmo moved to Zagreb at 16 to further his career.

The unorthodox career path has paid off, with the midfielder making his Spain debut last year and capping it with a goal.

Over the course of the last year, Olmo’s fine performances in the Champions League and for Spain U-21s earned him interest from Barcelona, Manchester City and Milan.

Leipzig, though, have pulled off a coup to sign the 21-year-old to a contract until 2025.

“RB Leipzig is a young, attractive club that has convinced me with its philosophy of developing talented players and placing their trust in them,” Olmo told Die Roten Bullen’s official website.

“I would like to contribute with my strengths and help to continue on the successful path.”
