Tuesday’s Champions League action was overshadowed by the disgraceful and disappointing scenes in Paris.

Following an alleged racist comment from the fourth official, both Paris Saint-Germain and Istanbul Basaksehir walked off the field.

The game remains suspended.

This is what has occurred elsewhere.

RB Leipzig 3-2 Manchester United

Scorers: Angeliño 2′, Haidara 12′, Kluivert 69′; Fernandes pen 80′, Pogba 82′

RB Leipzig incredibly knocked Manchester United out of the Champions League thanks to a ruthless early onslaught in Germany.

The home side stunned United after 109 seconds with, predictably, Man City loanee Angeliño doing the damage with a sweetly-struck low volley after being picked out at the far post.

Amadou Haidara added another with an easy finish and only VAR denied Leipzig a third against a United outfit who completely caved in at the back against a side they beat 5-0 in their previous meeting.

Leipzig scored what proved to be a crucial third thanks to the most catastrophic defending yet, Paul Pogba, Harry Maguire and David de Gea all guilty in allowing Justin Kluivert to bundle in a third.

And they needed that after the customary Bruno Fernandes penalty and a header from Pogba made for a nervy finish, although the Germans held on for victory.

It is a shock capitulation from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men, who needed just one point from their final two games to qualify but lost them both.

Paris Saint-Germain v Istanbul Basaksehir

As outlined above, both teams walked off the field in the first half of this one after the fourth official directed an apparent racist comment at a member of the Basaksehir coaching staff.

The situation remains uncertain with the game still suspended at present.

Barcelona 0-3 Juventus

Scorers: Ronaldo pen 13′, pen 52′, McKennie 20′

The Lionel Messi v Cristiano Ronaldo battle definitively went the way of the Juventus man as his side thrashed Barcelona at Camp Nou to end their 38-game unbeaten run there in this competition.

It was Ronaldo who grabbed the limelight early in their duel, winning a penalty for a very soft foul, which he dispatched with ease before the impressive Weston McKennie volleyed in a second.

After the break, Ronaldo notched another from the spot following a Clément Lenglet handball and only after Aaron Ramsey brought a stunning save out of Marc-André ter Stegen.

The result now sees Juventus pip an utterly abject Blaugrana side to top spot in the group too, becoming the first ever Italian team to score three goals at Barça.

Chelsea 1-1 Krasnodar

Scorers: Jorginho pen 28′; Cabella 24′

Chelsea’s revamped side somewhat toiled to an irrelevant draw at home to Krasnodar, who finish the group in third.

The Blues, who had a perfect record against Russian opposition prior to kick-off, surprisingly fell behind to a low Remy Cabella strike which crept past Kepa at his near post.

But a Jorginho penalty levelled to ensure his side didn’t end their group stage campaign on a loss.

Rennes 1-3 Sevilla

Scorers: Rutter pen 86′; Koundé 32, En-Nesyri 45+2′, 80′

Sevilla ensured Rennes’ first ever Champions League campaign ended with just one point to show for it with a comfortable win in France.

Jules Koundé put the visitors in front before they added a second in first half injury time when Youssef En-Nesyri craned in a fantastic front post header.

He got his second late on with a neat low finish, with the perennial Europa League contenders looking like they mean business among the big boys.

Dynamo Kyiv 1-0 Ferencváros

Scorers: Popov 60′

Dynamo Kyiv secured their place in the Europa League after Christmas thanks to a narrow win at home to Ferencváros.

With only third place up for grabs in this one, Denys Popov headed in the only goal of the game on the hour mark to keep his side in Europe.

Zenit 1-2 Borussia Dortmund

Scorers: Driussi 16′; Piszczek 68′, Witsel 79′

Dortmund advanced as group winners thanks to some unlikely scorers in Russia on a night when their prized jewel made Champions League history.

An injury-ravaged BVB fell behind on 16 minutes when they failed to pick up Sebastián Driussi in the area and his miscued attempt wriggled in at the front post.

History was made after the break when Youssoufa Moukoko entered to become the youngest player ever to feature in the competition but it was a man at the other end of the spectrum who managed to break Zenit’s resistance.

Lukasz Piszczek became the oldest Dortmund scorer ever in European competition with his equaliser before a late bobbling strike from Axel Witsel against his former club secured first place for the visitors.

Lazio 2-2 Club Brugge

Scorers: Correa 12′, Immobile pen 27′; Vomer 15′, Vanaken 75′

Lazio’s costly slip against 10-man Brugge at home didn’t prove fatal as they joined Dortmund in qualifying for the knockout stages.

The early exchanges were fast and frantic, with Joaquin Correa giving the hosts an early lead, only for Ruud Vomer to quickly restore parity.

Before the half-hour mark, Ciro Immobile regained the lead for the Aquile from the penalty spot after he had been fouled in the area and their task was aided before half-time when Eduard Sobol was sent off for a second yellow.

Despite the man advantage, the second half was much nervier than it should have been, with Hans Vanaken grabbing the shock leveller with 15 minutes to go and it could have been a lot worse – with the Belgians smashing the bar deep into injury time.
