RB Leipzig have identified Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss as a replacement for Xavi Simons should the Dutchman depart the Bundesliga club this summer, but they face competition to sign the Moroccan international from the recently relegated club.
Fussball Transfers first reported Leipzig’s interest in El Khannouss, but a deal could now prove difficult. They cite GMS who suggest that Leeds United have now approached Leicester with an enquiry to sign the 21-year-old attacking-midfielder. Crystal Palace, West Ham United and Al-Ahli have also shown interest, as have Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund.
As reported by The Athletic, El Khannouss can leave for a reported fee just under €26m after Leicester City were relegated from the Premier League. The Morocco international scored three and provided five assists in 36 appearances across all competitions for the Foxes last season.
Talks between Chelsea and RB Leipzig for Simons – who wants to join the London club – are ongoing, according to Fabrizio Romano.
