RB Leipzig CEO Oliver Mintzlaff, has met with Elvis Basanovic, agent of Benjamin Sesko, to discuss a potential transfer, according to Fabrizio Romano.

They are meeting to see if they can complete a transfer for the Slovenian wonderkid even though RB Salzburg do not want to sell the player this summer.

Salzburg want to hold out until 2023, but Chelsea and Manchester United are interested in the player. It could complicate things for Leipzig.

Man Utd’s director of football, John Murtough, reportedly held talks with Basanovic two weeks ago.

United need forward reinforcements after letting Edinson Cavani leave. Anthony Martial is out with an injury while Cristiano Ronaldo is pushing for a transfer.

Erik ten Hag is looking for attacking reinforcements, especially in the aftermath of a disastrous start to the season.

Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel are also interested in the player. The German boss is eager to add goals to his forward line. Chelsea owner Todd Boehly reportedly met with Basanovic.

The 2022/23 season has been billed as the breakout season for Sesko following the departure of Karim Adeyemi to Borussia Dortmund. He is expected to become a mainstay in the starting XI.

Sesko broke into Salzburg’s team last season and made 24 appearances in the Austrian Bundesliga. He scored five goals and created two big chances as the club went on to lift the title.

At 19, Sesko’s 6ft 4ins frame is almost unbelievable. He combines speed, size, technique and strength with ruthless finishing to make one top talent.

Due to their physique and Salzburg connections, it is not hard to see why Sesko has drawn comparisons to Erling Braut Haaland.

Any moves to the top five European League may be too soon for Sesko though. He is yet to prove himself in top-flight football.

Sesko is a remarkable talent, but he has not completed a full season of games. Staying put for regular game time and development will be his best bet.

It is also probable that any meetings right now are just laying the groundwork for a future transfer. The player and agent will decide on their next move this week.
