German side RB Leipzig are reportedly considering a potential loan swoop for Liverpool centre-forward Divock Origi this month.

According to Sport Bild, via GFNG, Origi is one of three players Leipzig are looking at for the January transfer window, with Kasper Dolberg, of Nice, and Kelechi Ihaenacho, of Leicester, the other two.

A report in December claimed that Liverpool were looking to sell Origi in the January transfer window, although it remains to be seen whether or not that is still the case.

This potential transfer could make more sense for Liverpool than the recent links with Inter for Origi. Whilst Inter have Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez scoring goals up front, Leipzig have struggled to find a consistent goalscorer in the Bundesliga this season. Yussuf Poulsen is their joint-top scorer in the Bundesliga with four goals, whilst Alexander Sorloth – signed from Crystal Palace – has scored once in 15 games.

Leipzig’s lack of scorers could present Origi with the perfect opportunity for the second-half of the season. He could head over to Germany and look to establish himself as a regular in the side and provide them with the goals they are lacking at the moment. With the European Championships coming up this summer it could give Origi a platform to show Belgium that he is good enough to make the squad and potentially play a part in the tournament.

However, as stated above, it remains to be seen whether or not Liverpool will be willing to part ways with the striker. Origi started in Liverpool’s 1-0 defeat to Burnley in the Premier League on Thursday, hitting the crossbar in the first-half after racing through on goal.
