Fabrizio Romano reports that RB Leipzig are close to signing Xavi Simons on a season-long loan from Paris Saint-Germain. On Sunday, Simons made the decision to return to the French club from PSV Eindhoven. PSG triggered the €6m buy-back clause to bring Simons back to the club he left in January last year.

Simons finished the season as the Eredivisie’s joint-top scorer. The former Barcelona academy player scored 19 goals and provided nine assists in 34 appearances as PSV finished in second place. After returning to PSG, he’s set to immediately be sent out on loan to the Bundesliga.

This summer alone, RB Leipzig have already signed several new players to bolster their attack. Benjamin Seško (RB Salzburg), Christoph Baumgartner (Hoffenheim), Fabio Carvalho (Liverpool) and Loïs Openda (RC Lens) have all signed for the side that finished third in the Bundesliga last season. Now, 20-year-old Dutch international, Xavi Simons will become their next signing. There will be no option for the club to buy Simons permanently after the loan.
