RB Leipzig are reportedly closing in on the signing of Feyenoord right-back Lutsharel Geertruida, who was also wanted by Barcelona.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Leipzig have tabled an official offer to the Dutch club and are in advanced negotiations to get the deal done.
Leipzig are expected to announce the loan move for Fabio Carvalho soon, with the Liverpool youngster having undergone his medical tests today.
Geertruida will follow Carvalho as the next summer signing for Die Roten Bullen.
The 22-year-old had courted interest from La Liga giants Barcelona following his impressive 2022/23 campaign, where he helped Feyenoord win the Eredivisie title and reach the quarter-finals of the Europa Conference League.
He also made his debut with the Netherlands national team in March and featured in the Nations League finals this month.
Having spent around a decade with Feyenoord from his youth days, Geertuida will leave for the next step of his career.
Leipzig have already shelled out €24 million for Christoph Baumgartner from TSG Hoffenheim, who marked the club’s first arrival of the summer.
The Austrian midfielder has also become the nation’s most expensive player ever.
Leipzig have lost Konrad Laimer and Christopher Nkunku to Bayern Munich and Chelsea respectively, with Josko Gvardiol next in the line.
Manchester City are working hard to find an agreement with Leipzig, having agreed personal terms with the Croatian centre-back.
Leipzig are steadfast on their €100m valuation, which would be a world-record fee for a centre-back.
A striker is also a priority for Leipzig following Nkunku’s departure. They have missed out on summer target Marcus Thuram, who has chosen Inter Milan.
