RB Leipzig have made the surprise appointment of Domenico Tedesco as the club’s new head coach.
The 36-year-old former Schalke coach has been out of work since his contract with Spartak Moscow ended at the end of last season and takes over with Leipzig currently 11th in the Bundesliga table.
Former coach Jesse Marsch was sacked last week after a run of three straight Bundesliga defeats, but a 2-1 Champions League win over Manchester City overseen by interim coach Achim Beierlorzer means Die Roten Bullen will be playing Europa League football in the new year.
Tedesco previously took charge of 59 Bundesliga matches during his time with Schalke, winning 24, drawing 14 and losing 21.
